So, guess you're still watching to see if your LAT VCs "come loose"
again, at which time I guess you'll have to tighten them back up...
Sorry - couldn't resist.
So many native-speakers have so much trouble with English, I can just
imagine the ESL people tearing their hair out in frustration!
Generally, it's common practice to program switches and routers to
bridge LAT transparently at high priority between VLANs and physical
segments as needed to keep VCs from dropping unexpectedly.
...and yes, even though LAT is thought of as part of DECnet, it really
isn't - it's its own protocol (ethernet packet type). LATACP runs
entirely independently of NETACP (the DECnet-IV executor). Even
LTLOAD.COM - the earlier LAT startup procedure has been replaced in
newer VMS with LAT$[SY]STARTUP.COM, and is no longer invoked by
STARTNET.COM (the DECnet-IV startup procedure).
