Ahh, those days where sweet, now the san, lan, wan, and any other 3
letter combo has to be operational jut to boot, not just an old
TK50...
Oops OT, but bringing back memories... Wasntit better then? VMS 4.5.
on a MicrovaxII 20 users and any improvement to the app hit them
instantly (VT terminals), now we use softgrid and SMS (No not the
telephone mess thingy) to distribute programs.. and then I never know
what version they ar running... still not more than 70 users that I
care about, but now there is a lot of "hangarounds"...
Now I have 60-70 clients connected (to a DS-25 I know its small, but
thats all I need) , Reflection is installed in about 500 PC, and yes,
make a change, restart (If needed) ACMS handeld processes and all are
using the same version.
Booting up the I64 on a BCK file might be harse, or installing alpha
programs on another platform mght be tricky, but to take sourcecode
and recompiling it is OK, been there - done that, some problems with
IEEE float as to G_FLOAT and some sys$wait but no biggies.
Beware of the 32/64 bridge on adressing, putting a 1 bit in an memory
cell and using it in a include file 2-3 steps down might not get the
compiler to fill the other 63 bits wits nothing and the next bit/byte/
whatever might be a bit problematic for the computer to understand.
Tested that on a course and an alpha danced circles around a I64 that
had (Our techer showed us how to) a hard time to figure tha one out..
a scale of 1:5 if i rememer correctly.
>From som movie, Im getting to old for this... *smile*
