   Which provides what value to the customer?  And why Solaris over any 
   other UNIX or UNIX-like OS?

   It's only been a few years since Gartner displayed thier ususal level
   of understanding by declaring that the ony UNIX with futures were
   AIX and Solaris.  Seems like once again they haven't been able to
   make thier predictions quite self-fulfilling.
