If Oracle takes the VMS clustering technology and moves it from the
database engine to the Solaris OS, then Solaris will have gained

I think it might end up one of the world's biggest ironies:

Solaris, once the arch rival of VMS would end up getting the unique VMS
clustering technologies, while the owners of VMS would have ditched that
technology in favour of inferior product from Veritas.

Back in the late 1980s, announcing that Solaris would one day inherit
VMS clustering would have been April Fools material.
