You can doubt it.
Just as you can doubt that the olympics in 2008 were in Bejing and that
Obama would be elected president in 2008.
But there is really not much point, since it did happen and it is easy
to verify.
That mainstream support for XP ended April 14th was all over the
IT press and you can check it at Microsofts web site.

If they used a regular Windows XP, then they are on their own similar
to all other PC users (except that they may have the money to make
a special deal with Microsoft).
But most likely they used Windows XP Embedded. Since that is not a
consumer product it has a different life cycle. Mainstream support
for Windows XP Embedded ends November 1st 2011.
