Depends what you mean and what the MSA30 is connected to.  Given that
this group is a VMS one and you mention the DS25 in the subject line,
I'm assuming that the MSA30 is connected to an AlphaServer DS25
running VMS.

This being the case, the MSA30 is purely a disk shelf.  If the
controller that you're running supports a tool like SWCC then you may
be in luck.  Otherwise, you're relying on VMS or a local operator to
spot that there's a problem with a drive.
