Why the heck use COPY/FTP and TELNET when you can implement DECnet
over IP and have done with the network managers little campaigns? My
team leader several jobs ago wasn't sure that we'd put DECnet Plus on
any system after experience with DECnet Extensions. When I realized
that you could do DECnet over IP and solve a business problem of an IP
only link from old system to nice shiney new Y2K compliant one, we
just dived in and went for DECnet Plus.
I'm still grateful to Barbra Karten (wherever she is now) for
explaining DECnet over IP at the DECUS Europe Conference in Paris back
in 1998!
