We did routine hardware maintenance on all of our 11/780 and
   DECSYSTEM 20xx systems.

I have not seen any routine hardware maintenance since our first
   MicroVAX II.

Generally my systems only went down for power outages (couldn't
justify a large UPS) since the early 1990's when we stopped
   subscribing to software updates.

I think a few times (much less than once a year) I had to reboot for
IP stack security updates, which Process (Multinet) provided to everyone.
