Actually, one member of a shadow set will be designated
the master.  I believe this is used as the source during
shadow copies.  Otherwise, all members are treated as
equal.

But I see I didn't complete my answer to the OP.
If a shadow set has been initialized for dynamic
volume expansion, you do the following:

1) shadow copy one (or more) larger shadow
    member(s);
2) dismount the "small" member(s) from the
    shadow set;
3) do a SET VOLUME/SIZE which will expand
    the volume size to that of the remaining
    shadow member.
