   If the OP knows it's a Windows CRLF file and transfers it binary,
   he can then use SET FILE/ATTRIBUTES to tell RMS it's really an
   stm file, as long as the file then does not exceed any RMS limits.

   But I thought the 32K limit he was up against is applicable to any 
   record type.  A 16 bit length field in the RAB data is a 16 bit 
   length field.
