Today I got a question about VMS and no clue what the correct answer
ought to be.
The question is whether VMS supports iSCSI storage. The customer's
platform is VMS on Alpha (version unknown, but based on what
infomation there was I'd say they're at 8.3) and the storage is on an
EVA system which is, I think, a fiber channel system.
They want to integrate their storage in one box for their Windows and
VMS platforms. The reason for the question is money, iSCSI is cheaper
to buy and operate (their words) than a fiber channel array.
If there is iSCSI support in I64/VMS then they're willing to move away
from Alpha towards Itanium.
I have no experience with neither technology, which explains the
inability to come up with an answer and possibly an awkwardly phrased
question.
