I had nothing to do with NPMANAGE other than using it myself and 
recommending it to customers.  I'm not sure if it was written by DPI 
(the company that provided the network card in the 5100) or by someone 
in the Components and Peripherals part of Digital (the group that 
produced all the printer and terminal products).  Considering how 
difficult configuring the network card was, NPMANAGE was a big help.

And as Steve Underwood has just pointed out to me, there was a Windows 
version of NPMANAGE that ran if you had Novell Netware installed.  
There was also a Unix utility that could configure the network card.
