[Info-vax] Itanium in the news (NOT)

My shop is exclusively SuSE, though in 2003 we initially started with RedHat. Since we base our primary systems
on Linux for zSeries, we could never get comfortable with RedHat. They would consistently come back and try to
convince us to move to x86 platforms.
There were very interesting discussions, along the lines of "you have to license Linux!" from the RedHat side,
and "Says who?" from out side. Of course, they can charge whatever they want for a media set, but the actual
OS is and always has been licensed as to preclude the restrictive kind of license that RedHat would very much
love to have.
SuSE on the other hand, has always been straight and upfront that what they want you to pay them for is support.
But given that, I am pretty sure there will be at least one or two Itanium ports of each and every RedHat release, though
perhaps not labeled as RedHat.
No idea what RedHat has for a business strategy though, if they even really have one.
