Not if it were a routing problem on the VMS system getting packets back to
the peecee. The connection could make it to the server but the reply never
gets back to the client. That would explain your server process looping
(trying to send packets to the client). The client times out when it does
not get a response. That would also be the only point I would expect to see
any change in the routing because it is the only item changed.
A simple ping or tracert from the client should show if this were the case,
however.
