There are ALPHA machines (such as the DEC 3000/300LX) and VAX machines
(such as the 4000 VLC) which are smaller than ANY PC I have ever seen
(except laptops, notebooks etc).  Although I have occasionally owned
bigger machines (usually to rescue them from the scrap heap before
passing them on to someone who actually uses them), all my VAX and ALPHA
machines are desktop or deskside models (except for one somewhat larger
ALPHA).  So, the size of the machine is not the issue.  The size of your 
house might be, but you can always get rid of the PC and replace it with 
a VMS machine!
