I'm not Bill, and it's been years since I used VOS, but ISTR that we had 
something akin to symbols for these commands - ccd, etc.  I used to 
remember how to create and use these "symbols", and they came in very 
handy when working from home, where speedy interfaces were not available.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane - I liked VOS, almost as much as 
VMS, and quite a bit more than Unices or OS/400.
