Migrating to metric is not something one does overnight.
You start out teaching it at entry level school grades. By the time the
grade 1 graduates, they are fully fluent in metric and laugh at people
who sat "feet" and "inches".
Course, until the US finally accepts they need to compete in a global
world, the chances of this even starting is nill to zero.
