Email has arrived now---it IS a MicroVAX 80, so I guess it took a bit

Why the need to set the terminal to VT100?  I have VAXes running 7.3, 
and routinely use VT300.  (I actually logged in from a DECterm on a VAX 
running 7.3, which emulates a VT300.)
