This is from an old Digital article.  Haven't tried it for some
years.  Not sure if it still works.
Create command file SEE_MBX.COM with this in it.

     DEFINE IOB=@IOB
     DEFINE LEN=(@(IOB+20)@10)@-10
     EXAMINE IOB+24;LEN

Invoke SDA
     SDA> READ SYS$SYSTEM:SYSDEF
     SDA> SHOW DEVICE MBA2
     SDA> DEFINE IOB=UCB

Execute command file to read each message in the mailbox.
     SDA> @SEE_MBX
