I had to point out that most modern conveniences; e.g. elevators don't 
really care what year it is.  They just went on working.

The hysteria though, had to be seen to be believed.  I encountered one 
guy electronically who was trying to get Y2K certification for his power 
cords!  I hope he was poking fun at the whole thing but I wouldn't be 
too surprised if he was serious!

2000 arrived normally, the world went right on turning and most forgot 
the sillyness!
