DECwindows is motif and the motif docs say this is impossible. Even
though
this doc section is 12 years old it's the only thing I could find.

But the faq as a whole has been updated regularly so...
Finding what resources an X app uses can be quite challenging. One
approach is to just look
for ascii strings in the executable. VMS compiles put static strings
toward the top so it's not too bad.
for example: dump/page sys$system:decw$terminal
