I took (and passed) two certification exams (with no preparation)
at the VMS Boot Camp several years ago.   Other than having two
certificates to hang on the wall (actually, reside in a stack of
paper), I have not experienced any benefit from having done this.

Has *anyone* here experienced any difference from having (or not
having) one of these certifications?   Has any employer/client
said that having (or not having) a certification made the difference
in a hiring or promotion decision?

While taking the exams was an interesting mental exercise, it
was only fun because it was free.   Having to pay (even a reduced
fee) for something useless is non-fun.
