The shadowing manual says :

"Disks and controllers must be one of the following types:
— StorageWorks Fibre Channel
— StorageWorks SCSI
— MSCP (mass storage control protocol) conformant"

And there are other requirements that probably makes
IDE unsupported/unfunctional.
