And my guess is that Hurd would have had an executive assistant to
handle such chores and would have never seen how it works.
Executive assistants at this level are very quiet, discrete and
professional. They know what their boss is doing, but do not comment nor
judge.
They are the ones who fill out the expense claims. If told to expense
the services of a hooker, they will ask "under what category", Hurd will
respond "customer support" and they will enter it under "customer
support" without question.
Any news on the search for Hurd's replacement ? When they fired
LaCarly, it didn't take very long to find a replacement. I suspect they
had secretely begun the search before LaCarly was fired.
I have to wonder if there wasn't more to this story than the media was
told. Seems to me that the board could have easily found a way to
overlook his indiscretions as longa s he had repaid all those expenses
that were "mistakenly filed in the wrong category".
It is not unheard for corporations to restate financial statements with
large changes in the millions. To restate an expense report with a
difference of a few thousands should not have required national media
exposure.
If the mistress had gone public, all she could have said was that she
had an affair with him. She couldn't know about some accounting
irregularity which was corrected.
What if the shareholders had voted to keep him ?
