What you believe is irrelevant. Linux is not Unix.
Its creator said so and went to a lot of trouble to
have the owners of Unix agree with him. Linux is Linux.
Or are you also going to argue that Xinu is Unix and Minix
is Unix, too.

Compliance has nothing to do with it. Both Ultrix-11 and Ultrix-32
were derived from AT&T Unix source code and paid license fees to
AT&T for that right. That, and not compliance makes them Unix.

That is another matter entirely. Is the question "Is Linux Unix?"
or is it "Can I consider Linux to be Unix?"

I worked on a version of Xenix that had a MSDOS user interface. it
also ran PC programs lime Multiplan. Was it Unix or MSDOS?

With or without copnsidering Linux to be Unix, Unix is still doing
just fine. And it has a better future onthe horizon than some other
OSes we could mention.

Yeah, funny that. based on the fact (as pointed out here recently)
that OS-X is really just FreeBSD, imagine what BSD could do if it
had the marketing that Linux gets.
