I only have this problem when I copy files, or copy and paste text, to
a VAX. I often give up as it's faster to copy and paste to Wordpad in
text mode than to do the same to an EVE editor buffer (at least when
using SmarTerm). I sometimes do this with terminal sessions, though
there were other scenarios in the past, which I can't remember right
now. Oh, I think it was copying content from webpages.

I like wrap when I can use it to correct someone's lousy judgment
about when to hit the Return key, such as making lines too long to
read easily.

And I wish the default for VT was wrap so that I don't miss trailing
parts long messages from a boot session.

I recently had a problem where I copied something (I forget what,
sorry) to a Mac Mail new-message window. I was astounded to see it
wrap by splitting words across lines! I don't recall the exact method
needed to achieve this stunning, yet annoying effect. Sorry.

Several months ago I had a wrap problem with a chat session with
Comcast. The tech's lines didn't wrap! I couldn't read anything past
the right border of the chat window without horizontal scrolling! I
asked him to press the Return key once in a while but he didn't, even
after repeated requests and explanations. Where was QA, and what were
they on?

I am posting this chat under separate cover as it's a little long
(well, it has lots of blank separator-lines). I replaced the person's
name with "<tech person>" and edited out the irrelevant parts. I swear
I did not make this up! See my next post for the dialog. If you liked
the Word Perfect 'Tell them "You're too stupid to use a computer"'
hoax, you like this one, except mine is bona fide.

I'd love to have a "Universal Translator" (a la Star Trek TOS) that
would fix up any text. Does anyone have one? I made an attempt at a
quick-and-dirty solution using output from the DUMP command, but it
splits words across lines.
