[Info-vax] HP Surestore DAT24 firmware download?

Wow, what a day it's been. I've got a DDS-3 tape drive here - it's an HP
Surestore DAT24 SCSI (internal, but that's not important). Under Linux I
could see the drive and write to it, but all attempts to read failed
(I/O error). Under Windows the SCSI controller device driver wouldn't
load. My working theory here is that the problem is being caused by the
SCSI controller (an old one that I am testing for the first time).
So I connected the DAT drive to the rx2600. Downloaded and installed HP
Library & Tape Tools (HP L&TT) for OpenVMS v8.4. Ran it - it recognized
the drive immediately (wow, I should have done this first instead of
messing with Linux and Windows). Now it's running its battery of tests.
That brings me to my question. I'd like to (1) find out what firmware is
installed on the drive and (2) download and install the latest firmware.
However, apparently the only way to download firmware is using the HP
L&TT software, but (from the manual):
NOTE:
The [firmware] download function is not supported with NetWare, OpenVMS,
or Tru64 UNIX.
It goes on to explain where to put the firmware file that you download
yourself, so that HP L&TT can see it. Fine, I thought, it's just a
matter of manually downloading the firmware file. But, for the life of
me, I can't find it. Here's HP support page for the drive:

Can anyone confirm that there is no firmware download there?
Now I see the HP L&TT tests just completed - it wants me to upgrade the
firmware:
- Test 'DDS Drive Assessment Test' started on device 'HP C1537A' at address
'PKB0[NIKKI$MKB200]'
- Analysis Results
- DDS Drive Assessment Test version V04.06.2007
- Device Analysis for DDS Drives
- Test script revision: V28.07.2009
- Date tested: Sat Nov 13 23:45:22 2010
- The drive has been checked in the following areas.
- Drive Serial Number :
- Script is unable to verify if this device is using latest firmware -
revision data was not loaded from web.
- AUX A8: Last Error: 0x41
- Please update the firmware in your drive with the latest version.
- There were 7 rules checked.
- Testing has completed and no problems were found.
Thanks, as always.
