Thanks, Mark. Allow me to clarify. I am a touch typer. That said, the 
delay I'm referring to is unreasonable. Just using one finger to type a 
single character, there is a noticeable delay before the character 
appears. As you mentioned, the more characters you type rapidly, the 
longer the delay gets. When I type 30 or so random characters, I get to 
a delay of nearly 4 seconds before the characters appear on-screen.

(Try it on your Xming setup - just type a bunch of random characters 
quickly in a DECterm. When you stop typing, start counting seconds. How 
many seconds - approximately - before the characters appear?)
