Actually, not that I've ever noticed, but if I type really fast (as it
not really typing but hammering the keyboard) there is a noticable
delay on refresh. The delay seems to get longer the more characters
you can get in there.

Having said that I can type pretty fast and when I'm actually typing
something sensible I don't notice any delay.

Maybe you have superhuman typing abilities!
