Wow. They are really writing off their acquisition of Palm. This is very
soon after buying it.

I wonder if they will start writing enterprise software for the iPad.

What is still not clear is what HP will do with it BCS software (VMS,
HP-UX, NSK). Is there going to be a re-investment into those or will HP
continue to downscale them and move more towards industry standard
servers and Linux ?

What this announce does mean however is that Apotheker has the balls to
make drastic changes. Whether they are smart or dumb, only time will tell.

A couple weeks ago, I chatted with a Telstra employee in Australia, and
he was of the opinion that enterprises realise that HP doesn't know what
to do long term with its BCS systems, and as a result, companies are
more and more moving to IBM or even Sun.  And I thought I was the only
one with that opinion.
