Anyone know if HP buys "off the shelf" motherboards, or are those HP
designed but built in China ?

If HP merely puts its label on products designed and manufactured by
others, then I can see how profit margins would be very low since HP
adds little/no value to the products.

I think this is the difference between consumer and enterprise.
Enterprise customers want to know whom they are dealing with. They want
to know product futures and strategy so that they can invest wisely. HP
is way too opaque at that level since nobody knows what HP is up to with
regards to IA64 and the IA64 operating systems.

Apotheker didn't help when he didn't mention those in his big strategy
announcement of a few months ago.
