Agreed, and therefore the fact that Linux is free,
while VMS isn't, might not be very relevant.
What's the cost of an Oracle/linux license vs Oracle/VMS?

I disagree. People use Oracle because everybody else
seems to use it. Doesn't mean it's "the best".
