Many look at short term acquisition costs instead of long term total
cost of ownership, so the short term higher costs for VMS are not helping.

However, except for a few people left who know about VMS's strengths,
there is nobody left to push for a VMS solution and battle the image
that VMS is dead, IA64 is a dead end and that a combination of VMS/IA64
cannot be a strategically good decision.
