   Any random SCSI-disk-like device might be "recognized" by
the SRM firmware.  But. as I suggested before, getting the ID
info from a device is one thing, while getting real work done
is another.  On the other hand, many non-DEC CD-ROM and
CD-R/RW drives work just fine on Alpha (and even VAX)
systems.  I have various Toshiba and Yamaha drives in my
systems, for example.
