I don't know if you have space for it, but my father had a large propane 
tank fitted in the garden to supply the house heating system.  It was 
something like 20 feet from the house (and he planted bushes around it 
to conceal it).  Access for refilling was up the side of the house, and 
the tankers had suitably long pipes.
