Digital made the 16- and 32-bit BLISS compilers free in the mid-1990s, making
the announcement in their (monthly?) tabloid.

(When I saw this, I immediately contacted the gent who was helping us[1] gather
 up all the 36-bit software, and got Digital to release BLISS-36 for free as
 well.)

These should be on some CONDIST somewhere, I expect.


[1] us = XKL, Redmond, WA.  We built a KL-10 follow-on PDP-10, the Toad-1, and
    licensed all the 36-bit IP from Digital.  We were the model for the later
    acquisition of the 16-bit IP by Mentec.  Too bad no one at HP knows about
    this.
