Wasn't the 2008-2009 stimulus done partly by bush and partly by obama ?

As I recall, the money lent to banks and GM/Chrysler has been all
returned with some profit. So that part of stimulus seems to have worked.

The problem with jobs creation stimulus is that it is harder to measure.
Would a bridge still have been built without it ? Or perhaps it would
have been built over a longer period of time employing fewer people.

The thing is that with some exceptions, when you drop money within your
own country, it will stimulate your economy in some way since the money
does find its way into the economy.

Now, if you give some govt department money to buy noew photocopiers and
they buy japanese models, then mouch of that money will go ovrseas. But
if the japanese government spends mney to buy GE generators made in the
USA, it would compensate.

Government spending and its impact on the economy is not an exact
science. This is why they are called "economic theories".
