The federal government funds all kinds of public transit systems.
Voters in my state have repeatedly voted against light rail projects,
but they keep getting built. The claim is always that it is federal
funding. From where does this federal funding come? Most people call
them taxpayers. The latest project is to build a replacement bridge
across the Columbia River. It is estimated to cost $3 billion. The
plan calls for 3 traffic lanes each direction. It will replace a bridge
that is.....

light rail, which the taxpayers do _not_ want!
