Well, drivel drooler, socialism did exist before Karl Marx. The so-called
founding fathers of the US Constitution were all rather learned men. They
read many (all) of the contemporary political and social theorists of their
day. The basis of socialism was well establish in their time; albeit, it
wasn't referred to as "socialism" until early the next century after their
commission of the US Constitution. Engels and Marx, the fathers of your
"socialism", were espoused of the same social and political rhetoric that
yielded the US Constitution. However, those framing the US Constitution
did not conclude that MORE government and MORE POWERFUL government, where
the individual took a back seat, were the answer. They also saw the evils
of "democracy" and thus, the US Constitution does not prescribe to one.
I would suggest that, if you get to the US, you seek out one of the detail
tours of the Philadelphia State House (aka, Independence Hall) and listen
well. I've been there and done so many times.
