Missing something here.

Some companies make money from open source OSes running on real
systems, open source is not just for tablets, telephones, televisions,
and similar consumer electronics. Just ask RedHat, or even Montavista
(you may not have heard of MontaVista but their Linux is quite
widespread in some sectors).
