We still use powerterm here as do a number of our customers; there are
points where versions stopped working relative to OS versions; you had
to have some minimum revision to run under XP originally, and I've
heard similar about win7. Some of the offers for older versions may
not help you on a win7 test box. MS is not big on upwards
compatibility for its associated third party products. On the bright
side I actually had a working PT525 (Pathworks Powerterm) on my AS200
when it had to run NT Alpha prior to the hobbyist program providing
VMS licenses. Worked well, and gave the otherwise wasted Alpha a
useful purpose other than the pinball game and minefield.
V9.2 is the most recent version; I don't have it here. They also make
the 'Interconnect' product (I think their top version) for MacOS and
Linux. All are available for free evaluation download (it used to be
30 days, don't know now) but you do need to register so they can
contact you and entreat you for business from that point on. You'll
need to know the specific product (Interconnect, Pro, Lite, etc), not
just the version. You can only d/l the most recent version. Try
here: http://www.ericom.com/ptsoftware.asp
The more recent versions have worked pretty well for us; other than
working around the shortcomings of the 'standard' peecee keyboard
compared to an LK, it does what's needed for those in our office
required to use a peecee instead of a workstation for VT-type access
to ours and customer VMS systems. And Ericom was responsive in
correcting text color problems in the VT340 emulation when one
customer of ours ran into them.
