Believe me, you do NOT want to hit the situation where your initial
allocation of headers was way too small, and over time your INDEXF.SYS
got extended, and extended, and extended until it could extend no more
(it can only have one file header), even though there was plenty free
space on the disk.  Sure, DFU can defragment INDEXF.SYS but it needs
private access to the volume to do that.

You can pretty much have any size volume you want with LD (Logical
Disk).
