Do you have any information that confirms the ASX is running the OMX
software on Linux ?
Look, lets face it, HP has not exactly been pushing VMS as a platform
for the future. Major customers would know this. HP may promise support
for as long as customers need it, but they also get the hint that they
should move away from VMS in the long term. It's been 10 years since the
murder of Alpha announcement followed by the Stallard "move from VMS to
unix" message so the "long term" is kicking in now.
We all know how long it takes to migrate from VMS to a lesser platform
and retain as much of the features you had as possible.
So it is quite normal that outfits such as OMX would begun a migration
away from VMS to allow their customers to have a convenient "way out"
with conversions that is as painless as possible.
Lets face it, major exchanges have had glitches before. ASX isn't the
first. These days, they get noticed more than in the past.
