It must be noted that HP has been extremely quiet about its "BCS" unit
in recent years.  And the word "Software" was replaced with "Storage" in
that division's name.

(Software appears to report under a totally different "HP Software"
subsidiary now.)

HP has made it very clear though omission of mention in its financial
statements, that non-industry-standard enterprise servers and software
was not a big part of the business.

When Apotheker announced HP's strategy going forwards, BCS wasn't
mentioned (or barely mentioned).

So there is nothing new with HP not having a big focus on BCS.

I suspect HP has already answered this question a long time ago in
strategy meetings.  I also suspect that such strategy is not written in
stone and can adapt. I suspect Oracle's anouncement may have forced a
few changes to this strategy.

I don't think anyone below Livermore knows about it except for a very
samll group of engineers who would have been asked to look into
feasability of porting the HP OS portfolio to another platform. (they
wouldn't know the strategy, only that HP is looking into such possibilities)
