Is this at the hardware interface level ?

aka: if you have a remote disk array, the cable between the disk array
and the HP mainframe can only connect to one OS instance running on that
mainframe ?  So if you had 2 VMS instances, only one could get direct
access to the disk array ?

But if the disk array had 2 interfaces to the mainframes (as it they
were 2 different machines), is it then OK to have on interface assigned
to each OS instance, at which point they each get a direct path to the
disk array ?
