To be fair it was only the VMS section of the site which was served by 
the AlphaServer.

OTOH I have memories of a pair of VAX 4000-100 and 2 x Alpha 4100 
systems in a cluster driving a production line with 3000 workers. Even 
VAXes could do a lot of work.
