Initializing a disk does NOT remove data from the disk. It makes the
data inaccessible by normal means.
To actually remove the data on disk, you need to write erase patterns to
every block on disk. You might want to Google for "DOD Erase" which is
a pretty good method for removing your data from disk.
Just don't use it on the wrong disk! ;-)
