That was it, but I had to make sure all directories in the tree were
correctly backed up :

$ backo IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL:[000000]IAFBKP.DIR /Since=Backup/Modified
syl:f.bck/sav /log/reco
%BACKUP-S-COPIED, copied IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL:[000000]IAFBKP.DIR;1
%BACKUP-I-STARTRECORD, starting backup date recording pass at 27-OCT-2011
12:32:29.77
$ backo IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL:[IAFBKP]*.* /Since=Backup/Modified syl:f.bck/sav
/log/reco
%BACKUP-S-COPIED, copied IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL:[IAFBKP]CogStartup-IAFC.xml;1
%BACKUP-S-COPIED, copied IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL:[IAFBKP]IVACOIAFA.BKF;228
%BACKUP-S-COPIED, copied IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL:[IAFBKP]IVACOIAFB.BKF;222
%BACKUP-S-COPIED, copied IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL:[IAFBKP]IVACOIAFC.BKF;1
%BACKUP-I-STARTRECORD, starting backup date recording pass at 27-OCT-2011
12:32:34.72

still not working

$ sh log IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL
   "IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL" = "ADMIN_03$DISQUE:[EXTRNL_BKP.]" (LNM$SYSTEM_TABLE)
$ backo ADMIN_03$DISQUE:[000000]EXTRNL_BKP.DIR /Since=Backup/Modified
syl:f.bck/sav /log/reco
%BACKUP-S-COPIED, copied ADMIN_03$DISQUE:[000000]EXTRNL_BKP.DIR;1
%BACKUP-I-STARTRECORD, starting backup date recording pass at 27-OCT-2011
12:34:53.88
$ backo IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL:[IAFBKP]*.* /Since=Backup/Modified syl:f.bck/sav
/log/reco
%BACKUP-W-NOFILES, no files selected from IVA_BKP$EXTERNAL:[IAFBKP]*.*;*
%BACKUP-I-STARTRECORD, starting backup date recording pass at 27-OCT-2011
12:35:02.75
%BACKUP-W-NONEREC, no files processed on recording pass
$

There !

Since I never backup those directories normally (this is a temp drive), I'll
have to change the way I'm doing this.

Thanks for helping !
