gSOAP can only be used to interface with SOAP based interfaces.
However, not all web based interfaces are SOAP based. There are a
number of REST based web services which would need AXIS to interface
with. gSOAP cannot communicate with REST based web services. But AXIS
can.

Don't worry Eric. HP/VMS still has teams of people on the payroll scattered
across the globe with nothing to do and all day to do it in. Getting gSOAP
to talk to RESTful services will be a walk in the park for the Fagin Massiv
:-(
As far as my thoughts on the supposedly HP officially supported AXIS2/C
goes, comp.os.vms archives are available.
