   And, even if you did have the right server to go with your
client, you appear to be operating it incorrectly.

   This tells the FTP server to go into passive mode (which
apparently succeeds), but it does not tell the client to
_use_ passive mode.  This might explain the failures which
follow.

   If you want passive mode, then tell your client program
that.  Do not use "quote" to send a message to the server
behind the client's back.
